The
Sumter County Correctional Institute (C.I.) is operated, maintained,
and staffed by the C.I. The C.I. is under the regulatory authority
of the Georgia Department of Corrections. The C.I. houses inmates
who have been sentenced to the custody of the department for the terms
of their confinement. These inmates are required to work in various
county maintenance programs such as road repair.
Activities
One of the many
activities offered at the C.I. is the Prison Ministry. This ministry
allows prisoners to express their freedom of religion. The Prison Ministry encourages prisoners
to change their lives to reflect good morals.
